General Information

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for casual Corporate Administrative Assistant opportunities in the Legislative Services Division within the Corporate Services Department. Reporting to the Office Coordinator and with work assigned and supervised by the department-designated supervisor, the Corporate Administrative Assistant provides exceptional and professional customer service and administrative services in support of CVRD operations. This position will be assigned to work as needed in all areas of the main CVRD office including Land Use Services, Operations, Strategic Services, and Corporate Services.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school graduation plus completion of a minimum 6 month certificate in office administration or business administration from a recognized post-secondary educational institution
  • Four (4) years of related experience in an administrative support role.
  • Experience in local government is considered an asset
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Hours of Work

This casual opportunity has no guaranteed hours of work. Business hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Due to the nature of the work, the work schedule will be coordinated to meet the operational needs of the main CVRD office and may include shifts in blocks of time for planned absences or shifts on short-notice for unplanned absences. Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible variety of shifts, primarily days, but may include evenings (for meetings) and weekends (during emergencies). 

Salary

This position is unionized (CUPE Local 358) and compensated at the Secretary II level, in three steps, $33.46 ‑ $34.47 ‑ $ 35.50 per hour (2025 rates), plus an additional 14% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays.
