General Information

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for Janitor opportunities in the Facilities Division within the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Manager – Facility Operations (North/Central Cowichan) and supervised by the Janitor-Lead Head, the Janitor is responsible to perform a variety of tasks related to janitorial/custodial and cleaning methods of the facility.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School graduation or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 1 year experience in cleaning routines, materials, equipment usage and facility custodial operations
  • WHMIS certification -- provided by the employer
  • Basic First Aid Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License – employer provided vehicle

Hours of Work

This is a casual, on-call opportunity with no guaranteed hours of work. Shifts are based on the operational needs of the facility. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of hours and shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and short-notice shifts.

Salary

This Janitor position is unionized (CUPE Local 358) with a salary ranging in three steps from $32.55 - $33.50 - $34.49 per hour (2025 rates), , plus an additional 14.5% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays.
