General Information

Casual Skate Patrol opportunities are available at the Kerry Park Recreation Centre within the South Cowichan Recreation Division of the Community Services Department at the Cowichan Valley Regional District.

Reporting to the Recreation Centre Manager, and supervised by recreation programming staff, Skate Patrol assist with developing, planning, and implementing a wide variety of activities including public skates, birthday parties, programs and special events.

Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 14 years old with preference given to candidates who are 15 or older.
  • A minimum of 2 years of skating experience is preferred.

  • Experience with sharpening skates, performing inventory and overseeing a float would be considered assets.

  • A valid Basic First Aid Certificate is required.

Hours of Work

Casual hours of work are scheduled based on operational need and will be required to work a flexible variety of shifts including days & evenings on weekdays, weekends, statutory holidays, and school professional development days. 

Salary

This non-union casual opportunity has a wage range in 2 steps, $19.72 - $20.62 per hour, plus an additional 17.2% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays, as per the Non-Union Wage Scale (2025 rates).
