The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for a temporary full-time Senior Accounting Analyst position in the Financial Planning Section of the Finance Division within the Corporate Services Department. This temporary vacancy is resulting from a maternity leave backfill and is expected to end on January 1, 2027.
Reporting to the Manager - Financial Planning, the Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for performing complex accounting work, maintaining and auditing computerized financial records, and performing a variety of technical functions. This includes preparing, maintaining, and analyzing financial accounts and records, preparing financial reports and statements, performing a variety of internal controls and audit functions, and assisting in the preparation, development, and administration of the Regional District’s budgets. Considerable independence of judgement is allowed within established policy and recognized accounting procedures.

Guaranteed 35 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and eligible for flex time. This position may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings.
Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the CVRD has a Work From Home program. This program allows staff to work remotely, with the number of remote days per week determined by operational requirements, from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a CVRD worksite. This position works from the CVRD's main office in Duncan, BC, and at this time, is eligible to be part of the Work From Home program, potentially working remotely 1-2 days per week after a successful in-office training period. Please note, this is not a fully remote position – regular in-office presence is required.
Wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $48.67 - $50.14 - $51.58 per hour (2025 rates). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
