General Information

A temporary full time (up to one year with a possible extension) Parks Administrative Assistant position is available working in the Parks & Trails Division within the Operations Department at the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD). Reporting to the Senior Manager, Parks & Trails, the Parks Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing specialized administrative support services to the Parks & Trails Division, including contract administration support related to legal agreements, covenants, permits and procurement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a two (2) year certificate or diploma in a legal administrative assistant program from a recognized post secondary educational institution. 
  • Four years recent experience in a property management, real estate or legal office environment in an administrative support capacity.
  • Experience working in a BC local government environment is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License

Hours of Work

The hours of work are 35 hours per week with a typical schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Business hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The incumbent needs to be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends as they may be operationally required to attend meetings. Flex time is offered with this position. The position is not eligible for Work From Home consideration. 

Salary

This position is unionized (CUPE Local 358) and compensated at the Secretary III level, in three steps, $35.74 ‑ $36.77 – $37.86 per hour (2025 wage rate). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
