The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for an Out of School Care Leader I / Early Childhood Educator Assistant I combo position at the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre in the South Cowichan Recreation Division within the Community Services Department.

Reporting to the Child Care Coordinator, the Out of School Care Leader I works with the Coordinator to develop and implement the Out of School Care program, including adhering to licensing policies and guidelines. The ECE Assistant I works with the ECE Instructor to develop and implement the Preschool or Group Care programs, including adhering to licensing policies and guidelines.

• Minimum Secondary School graduation and an Assistant Certificate from the Early Childhood Education Registry Program
• Early Childhood Education license to practice would be an asset
• Valid Class 4 BC Driver’s License would be an asset (please include a dirver's abstract with your application)
• Licensing requirements include: must be 19 years of age, a certificate of health, three letters of reference and a criminal record check
• Child Care Licensing Approved First Aid Course
• Experience working in a Licensed Child Care setting

Guaranteed 20 hours of work per week, typically between Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. Hours of work are based on operational need and may vary.

Wage rates for Out of School Care Leader I are in 3 steps, $21.59 - $22.75 - $23.94 per hour. Wage rates for Early Childhood Educator Assistant I are in 3 steps, $22.75 - $23.94 - $25.18 per hour. (2024 wage rates). Benefits are included in this position.
