The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for a temporary full time, up to one year, Administrative Assistant-RWM position is available in Solid Waste Operations within the Recycling & Waste Management Division within the Operations Department at the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD).
The work location for this position is the Bings Creek Recycling Facility.
Reporting to the Manager, Solid Waste Operations, the Administrative Assistant‑RWM provides general and specialized administrative services and administers/oversees some solid waste programs to support bylaws and the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Plan, as directed. The specialized work involves but is not limited to being the first-respondent for the CVRD’s Recycling Hotline through to the resolution of issues, communicating with customers and staff, processes documentation and staff reports, performing financial activities, coordinating deliveries/pickups, draft administrative standard operating procedures for approval, reviewing customer applications for Manager’s approval, preparing agreements and permitting, data entry for maintaining accounts and running annual financial and operational data reports, researching, analyzing, monitoring, and tracking, obtaining approvals, and is the scale software specialist.

Guaranteed 35 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is eligible for flex time. This position may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings.
Wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $34.70 ‑ $35.70 - $36.76 per hour (2024 rates). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
