The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for two temporary summer Curbside Education Assistant positions in the Recycling & Waste Management Division within the Operations Department. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Recycling & Waste Management, the Curbside Education Assistant will work on a team to perform curbside recycling audits this summer. Duties will include: educate residents about acceptable and non-acceptable curbside recycling material; sticker curbside recycling totes with oops sticker or good job sticker; record totes with high contamination; coordinate routes and work hours with CVRD staff and curbside drivers; and other related tasks as required.
This position is available for a period of 10 weeks. Hours of work 14 hours per week (2 days per week). Shifts will be prescheduled and will occur between Monday and Saturday, and will alternate to address all curbside collection routes.
This temporary position is unionized (CUPE Local 358), and is compensated at $22.38 per hour (2024 rate). Additionally, this position will receive 14.5% in lieu of benefits, statutory holidays and vacation.
