General Information

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for casual Operations Attendant opportunities in the North/Central Cowichan Section of the Facilities & Transit Division within the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Manager – Facility Operations (North/Central Cowichan) and supervised by the Operations Attendant – Lead Hand, the Operations Attendant is responsible to perform a variety of routine tasks related to the operation and maintenance of facility, operational equipment and machinery. A thorough understanding of cleaning procedures is required.

 

Qualifications

  • Secondary School graduation or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 1-year equivalent experience as an operations attendant, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Trades certification would be an asset.
  • WHMIS Certificate – provided by employer
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 or equivalent
  • Refrigeration Operator Certificate (preferred) or Ice Facility Operator Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License – employer provided vehicle

Hours of Work

This is a casual, on-call opportunity with no guaranteed hours of work. Shifts are based on the operational needs of the facility. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of hours and shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and short-notice shifts.

Salary

This unionized position (CUPE Local 358) has a wage range in three steps from $33.44 - $34.35 - $35.36 per hour (2023 rates), plus an additional 14.5% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays.
