Are you a dynamic and progressive local government administrator with a keen interest in serving your local community? We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the CVRD in the key role of Deputy Corporate Officer in a temporary full-time capacity until the end of August 2023, with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Corporate Officer, the Deputy Corporate Officer is responsible for the coordination of Regional and Electoral Area Service projects for the CVRD by overseeing compliance with applicable statutory requirements and public approval processes. This includes the drafting, processing, and consolidating of bylaws; preparing reports and offering recommendations on various projects; overseeing the corporation’s compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act by acting as Information & Privacy Officer coordinating the conduct of local elections; and assuming the statutory duties of the Corporate Officer in their absence.
As our ideal candidate, you have a degree in Public Administration or a related area such as Business Administration or Law, plus completion (or in progress) of an Advanced Certificate in Local Government Administration, and at least 5 years of directly related experience in local government. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered, and the Certificate Municipal Clerk designation is an asset. You are knowledgeable about local government activities and legislation including the Local Government Act, Community Charter, and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and have a comprehensive knowledge of Parliamentary procedures and the principles and practices of Records Management. You are an effective and diplomatic communicator, a proactive and motivating leader of staff, and an engaged team member. You have exceptional organizational and attention to detail skills, strong research and analysis abilities, and you are comfortable with computers and a wide range of software packages.

This position works 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30) and is eligible for Work From Home consideration.
The CVRD offers a competitive salary starting at $100,325.73 commensurate with experience. This temporary full time opportunity receives 6% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation.
