The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications from prospective candidates to join our organization as a casual Truck Driver in the Recycling & Waste Management Division within the Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager - Solid Waste Operations and supervised by the Recycling Leader V, the Truck Driver contributes to the effective operation of CVRD Recycling Facilities through the efficient and safe collection and hauling of residential and commercial waste using tandem axle collection trucks and other equipment as required.

As this is a casual, on-call opportunity there are no guaranteed hours of work. Shifts are scheduled based on operational need. The successful candidate must be able to work a flexible variety of hours and shifts and as a condition of employment must be available on short notice for casual, on-call work for a minimum of 2 days per week on weekdays during the hours of operation for Curbside Collection which operates Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m. Weekday and weekend shifts may be scheduled to operate the roll-off truck. Applicants must indicate their ability to commit to these conditions in their cover letter.
This employment opportunity is unionized (USW Local 1-1937) with a probationary wage rate of $32.99 per hour and a regular wage rate of $35.01 per hour (2023 rates).
