Majestic mountains, the rugged West Coast Trail, serene lakes, and one of the world’s tallest free-standing timber rail trestles all lie in the picturesque Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD). Located on Vancouver Island, the CVRD provides a wide range of local government services to a population of 80,000 within its 4 distinct municipalities and 9 electoral areas. Just 50 km north of Victoria and 30 km south of Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley offers a warm climate and numerous parks, recreational, cultural, and social opportunities.


The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for the regular part time Food & Beverage Coordinator position in the Cowichan Lake Recreation Division within the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Manager, Cowichan Lake Recreation, the Food and Beverage Coordinator is responsible for the effective operation of the concession, catering, bar functions, and vending services of the department.


  • Secondary school graduation plus graduation from an accredited chef training food service hospitality industry program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience in food control management.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Extensive short order and banquet cooking experience.
  • Extensive mixology experience.
  • Experience with handling cash, reconciling accounts, and budget preparation.
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • First Aid Level 1 with CPR
  • Serving It Right – Licensee Certification
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License

Hours of Work

Guaranteed 20 hours of work per week, scheduled based on operational need. A flexible variety of shifts including days and evenings on weekdays and weekends is required.


Non-union wage rate in 3 steps, $28.28 - $29.17 - $30.03 per hour (January 1, 2021 rates). A comprehensive benefits package is included.
