General Information

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for the regular full time Recycling Facility Leader V within Solid Waste Operations within the Operations Department. Reporting to the Solid Waste Operations Superintendent. the Recycling Facility Leader V ensures the safe, efficient operation of CVRD Recycling facilities including a transfer station and truck fleet coordination. This position coordinates the daily facilities operations, including supervising and directing the work of staff, coordinating contractor servicing requirements, administering and enforcing OH&S policies and related regulatory requirements to ensure the facilities operate safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School graduation or equivalent
  • Supervisor Training certificate
  • Conflict Resolution training
  • Keyboarding and basic office equipment training

 

  • A minimum of five (5) years experience with:
  1. Dispatching drivers and maximizing route efficiencies
  2. Directing staff in supervisory role
  3. Working in an industrial workplace
  4. Conflict management
  5. Working with cash and other forms of payment
  6. Administrative and office equipment

 

  • Valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air endorsement
  • First Aid Level 1 with CPR
  • Skid steer Operator Safety Training certificate from an accredited institution - employer provided
  • Front End Loader Operator Safety Training certificate from an accredited institution - employer provided
  • Excavator Operator Safety Training certificate from an accredited institution - employer provided
  • Traffic Control Person Training - employer provided
  • WHMIS

Hours of Work

This regular full time position is guaranteed 40 hours per week. Shifts are scheduled based on operational need. The successful applicant must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes a variety of days and hours per week.

Salary

This position is unionized (USW Local 1-1937) with a Step 1 wage rate of $36.38 per hour and a Step 2 wage rate of $38.66 per hour (2022 wage rates).
