General Information

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for casual Cashier Receptionist opportunities in the Ticket Centre at the Cowichan Community Centre. Reporting to the Administration & Facility Booking Coordinator, the Cashier Receptionist is responsible for the reception duties within the Cowichan Community Centre at the Ticket Centre. This includes meeting and greeting the public, answering telephone and in-person inquiries, routing information, and performing a variety of other tasks such as program registration, ticket sales, and merchandise sales.


  • Secondary school graduation plus cash / clerical / computer training, or an equivalent amount of education, training, and experience.
  • One year of related office experience, preferably in a customer services capacity or equivalent combination of skills, education, and training.
  • Experience with working with cash and balancing daily cash receipts.
  • Familiarity with the operation of standard business equipment, including computers and a multi-line telephone system.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 with CPR

Hours of Work

Due to the nature of this casual work, it will be necessary to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, and weekends. This casual opportunity has no guaranteed hours of work.


Wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $22.11 - $22.71 - $23.40 per hour (January 1, 2021 rates). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
