General Information

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications from prospective candidates to join our organization as a casual Events Services Worker at the Cowichan Community Centre, within the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Programs & Events Coordinator, and supervised by the Recreation Programmer, the Events Services Worker is involved in a variety of janitorial and maintenance tasks, as well as set-up and breakdown for events relating to the operation of public skating sessions, special events, sports and recreation programs.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10, or the equivalent combination of education / training and experience
  • Experience in a maintenance capacity in the area of recreation and or sports, or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience
  • WHMIS Certificate – provided by employer
  • First Aid Level 1 with CPR
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License is an asset – employer provided vehicle

Hours of Work

As this is a casual opportunity, there are no guaranteed hours of work. Hours of work are scheduled based on operational need.  Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible variety of shifts including days & evenings on weekdays, weekends, statutory holidays, and school professional development days.

Salary

This casual opportunity is unionized (CUPE Local 358) and has a starting wage of $22.02 per hour (which is $19.32 per hour plus 6% pay in lieu of vacation, 6% pay in lieu of benefits and 5% pay in lieu of statutory holidays), as per the 2021 CUPE Wage Scale.
