General Information

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications from prospective candidates to join our organization as a casual Activity Leader I at the Cowichan Community Centre, within the Community Services Department at the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Reporting to the Programs & Events Coordinator and supervised by the Recreation Programmer, the Activity Leader I will be involved in a variety of recreation work relating to the operation of public skating sessions, programs, and special events.

Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to candidates who are 15 years of age or older.
  • Experience or leadership skills in recreation programming.
  • Previous work experience.
  • WHMIS Certificate – provided by employer
  • First Aid with child CPR

Hours of Work

As this is a casual opportunity, there are no guaranteed hours of work. Hours of work are scheduled based on operational need.  Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible variety of shifts including days & evenings on weekdays, weekends, statutory holidays, and school professional development days.

Salary

This casual opportunity is unionized (CUPE Local 358) and has a starting wage of $17.84 per hour (which is $15.65 per hour plus 6% pay in lieu of vacation, 6% pay in lieu of benefits and 5% pay in lieu of statutory holidays), as per the 2021 CUPE Wage Scale.
