General Information

Reporting to the Manager, Arts and Culture Division the Theatre Front of House Manager coordinates the Front of House volunteers and staff and supervises the execution of Front of House duties for the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre Theatre to provide for the comfort, enjoyment and safety of theatre patrons and volunteer ushers.

Qualifications

  • Formal education or training in a theatrical customer services environment is an asset.
  • A minimum of two years of experience providing customer service and/or performing theatre public relations work, or a combination of related education, training and experience.
  • Experience supervising and working with volunteers.
  • First Aid Level I with CPR

Hours of Work

As this is a casual opportunity, there are no guaranteed hours of work.  Due to the nature of the work, the incumbent may work a variety of shifts including days and evenings on weekdays and weekends to accommodate shows.  The Cowichan Performing Arts Centre is in operation approximately 43 weeks per year and is dark all summer.  The Front of House Manager may typically work up to 10 hours per week with some weeks up to 20 hours per week or more during peak periods.

Salary

This non-union opportunity has a wage range in three steps, $19.19 to $21.30 per hour (2021 rates) as per the Non-Union Wage Scale, plus an additional 6% pay in lieu of vacation and 6% pay in lieu of benefits.
