The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications from prospective candidates to join our organization as a casual Out of School Care Leader I at the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre within the South Cowichan Recreation Division of the Community Services Department. Reporting to the Child Care Coordinator, the Out of School Care Leader I works with the Coordinator to develop and implement the Out of School Care program, including adhering to licensing policies and guidelines.

• Minimum Secondary School Graduation.
• Have completed a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition.
• Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care Diploma or other related degree or working towards acquiring your diploma would be an asset
• Child Care Licensing Approved First Aid Course
• Licensing requirements include:  must be 19 years of age, a certificate of health, three letters of reference and a criminal record check.

Casual hours of work are set during hours of operation which are typically Monday through Friday with split shifts occurring between the hours of 7:00 a.m. ‑ 6:00 p.m.  Hours of work are based on operational need and may vary to accommodate facility operations.

This non-union opportunity has a wage range in three steps, $18.13 -  $19.19 - $20.22 per hour, as per the Non-Union Wage Scale (2021 rates).
